Anyone else find Instagram overwhelming?
Like ridiculously so, more than even LinkedIn?
Probabilistic positivity: You don’t have to solve or fix things, you just need to tilt the odds a little.
I like Jacky’s /uses page outlining everyday tech in use, in the same way I like About Ideas Now (as a concept at least – the site seems to have stopped indexing. Mine is definitely due for an update too.)
I’ve done similar stuff around what I’m using for self-hosting, but enjoy the simple-slug URLs that people employ – hidden taxonomies that are simple to setup, agree, and replicate. Remember when folksonomies was a thing, before discovery went all formal?
🎮 Miniatures lives up to its name – 4 tiny stories each within 10-15 minutes. Picked up dirt cheap out of interest for its approach to styling narratives, and not disappointed. _ The Paludarium_ stands out for having a bit more structure and nuance than the rest, but definitely worth a quid or two and an hour of your time.
📚 The Last Ronin: a good read for anyone that was as into TMHT (sorry, TM_N_T, even) as I was in the 90s. Brutal to the cosy nostalgia in many ways, but pleasing to know that this is an end story that was planned years ago, and that a sequel is ready and waiting for me.
🎵 Crashing the girl party at the moment. These are all great albums:
- Raye: This Music May Contain Hope – big fan of this, and of Raye. The first album wasn’t quite up my street but this one hits home proper.
- Oklou: choke enough – addictive casual club tunes to get stuck in your head.
- Carly Rae Jepson: E•mo•tion – 10 years on I finally can’t stop listening to this. Every track wins.
- Robyn: New album Sexistential – tried listening to her back catalogue last year but felt a bit casual. This one has had a few repeats though.
The more I think about bold italic text, the weirder I find it.
Like, either stand your ground, or be in a rush. You can’t do.both.
